Fleet Command has posted a list of POI (Points of Interest) discovered by explorers so far on the expedition, so time for some sightseeing. First up is Omega Sector DM-M B7-16 to check out the Lagrange clouds and see what if anything they contain. Its a huge system with a lot of planets/moons would have been a good payout for the first to discover it… and after several minutes with the FSS scanner sure enough not one but two ‘notable stellar phenomena’ are located. The first turns out to be a red gas cloud containing some weird crystalline structures, each of which is larger than Tannhauser
The next cloud is pitch black… Verity turns on the ship lighting and I still can’t see much of anything… proceeding very slowly forward things start registering on the scanner but I still can’t see anything, then a strange bug-eyed critter flashes into view and scares the crap outta me… my first encounter with a space mollusc. An ‘Albulum Gourd Mollusc’ to be exact. it’s definitely alive and it’s moving but it seems more curious than hostile as it checks out Tannhauser before heading on its way. Time to switch on night vision and see what else is lurking out there.
Lucky I did as I very nearly collided with a very large ‘Solid Mineral Sphere’ this thing is huge and probably fairly solid, a collision would not be good. Scattered among the Spheres are more Crystal Structures… That’s 6 different discoveries in the one system. (2 Clouds, Molluscs, 2 Lots of Metallic Crystals and Mineral Spheres) very cool.
Next on the suggested list is Omega Sector VJ-Q B5-6 Another large system with some 44 bodies to scan and explore… 1 Moon shows both Biological and Geological locations so a quick trip to check it out is in order. It’s a small red / brown moon with some interesting ridges and canyons to practice close in maneuvering on the way to the sites. Turns out to be more furamoles and Bark Mounds but well worth the visit.
