Ships Log Jan 23rd 3036 Day 9

Headed out from Omega Base Station again today, looking for mining sites or anything of interest. Failed to find much of anything until I chanced upon Omega Sector FG-Y D154 which had a series of High Metal Content moons around a Gas Giant which registered as containing ammonia-based life forms (Algae probably). FSS showed some geological points of interest too so I got in close and fired off some mapping limpets. The Moon was crisscrossed with what looked to be fairly deep ravines so headed down for a closer look. Did some exploratory runs before locating a field of geysers venting something straight up, decided to land and check them out. Headed out in the SRV and all went well until I inadvertently went over a vent just as it vented, SRV was blasted many hundreds of meters straight up a very unnerving experience floating around waiting for the inevitable impact. SRV bounced some 4 or 5 times and suffered moderate damage, was flung so far away I lost contact with Tannhauser on the scanner, had to send a remote signal to get Verity to relocate the ship close by, then had to maneuver up a steep ravine to reach the safety of the ship, altogether not an experience I want to repeat any time soon. Pay more attention to vents in unstable geological locations in the future! Made it back to omega Station and cashed in Exploration Data, only the 1 first discovered this time.
